Pearl was born on ‘road, to a fisherman father and housewife mother. She was considered “factory fodder” by her teachers at school and subsequently went on to work in many Hull factories like Brekkes and Birds Eye. Pearl was married twice. She had two children with each of her two husbands.
Pearl made and supported Sue in Bodyline making and selling wedding dresses. Together they made and fitted costumes for drag acts such as The Vauxhall Dragettes, The GiGi Girls and La Cagelles. She was also a drag performance fan and attended many nights to watch people like Bobby Mandrell and The Dream Girls.
