Pearl was born on ‘road, to a fisherman father and housewife mother. She was considered factory fodder at school and subsequently went on to work in many Hull factories including Hul
Breweries, Brekkes and Birds Eye [obtaining a medal for service as it closed]. Pearl was married twice. She had 2 children with each of her 2 husbands. Pearl made and supported Sue in Bodyline and ?? dress and wedding shops. Together they made and fitted costumes for drag acts such as The Vauxhall Dragets, The GG girls and La Cagelles. These three acts all featured the same three men – Gavin [Twaddles], Gareth and John.
In her interview she talks of her gay family members, her time watching and dressing acts in pubs such as Vauxhall, St Georges and Rayners and seeing acts such as Bobby Mandrell and The Dream Girls.
