Ken was born on Hessle Rd and lived on Hessle Road until he was married. He describes roller skating at Madely Street Baths and remembers Hull institutions like Rayners and Dee Street Club from when Hessle Rd felt like it was booming. He recalls the performer Rena Jordan, going to school with her and later seeing her perform and talks with fondness of the Hessle Rd personalities from the pubs and clubs.
